Dance of the Koi
Koi dancing through still water in classic Japan
About this puzzle
Koi are ornamental varieties of carp that have been cultivated for centuries, admired for their vibrant colors, graceful movement, and longevity. Originating in China and later refined in Japan, koi were selectively bred from common carp to develop distinctive patterns in red, white, black, gold, and blue. Over time, they became more than decorative fish, evolving into powerful cultural symbols closely tied to nature, perseverance, and harmony. In many Asian cultures, koi are most strongly associated with perseverance and determination.
