Despite their ubiquity, most people don't know where snow globes came from. However, they can be traced back to Europe at the start of the 19th century. It's a captivating story of serendipity. An Austrian man named Erwin Perzy is believed to have stumbled upon the snow globe quite unexpectedly. Perzy was asked by a local surgeon to improve upon Thomas Edison's lightbulb invention and make a brighter light for his operating room.
