Olga Suvorova (Russian, b. 1966) Annunciation , 2015 Olga Suvorova's Annunciation follows a long tradition of reverential artworks depicting the announcement by the angel Gabriel to Mary that she will conceive the Son of God. The ornate costumes-silk and velvet, jeweled and embroidered-are complemented by vibrant flowers and birds, including the symbolic white dove and lilies. The result is a lush tapestry, delicate in feeling but full of undeniably boisterous color.
